ACCREDITATION FOR CARIFESTA
VI. The accreditation system is implemented for any person who would be working at various CARIFESTA venues. Each of these venues would have restricted areas, and only those with the relevant accreditation would be allowed to access these areas.
The accreditation passes produced will contain personal information of the holder, including the name, country, organisation and photograph.
The passes are worn around the neck and would be checked on entry to the venue, and the relevant areas within the venues. The passes must be clearly displayed at all times by the pass holder.
The passes will be of two broad categories, a general and a venue specific pass. The general pas would allow access to all CARIFESTA site. While the specific passes with allow access to specific CARIFESTA sites.
There would be several categories of passes which would be color coded, these include:
- Media and Broadcaster - Black
- Official - Green
- Security, Police and Medical - White
- Service Provider - Yellow
- Country Delegations - Red
- Volunteers - Blue
If a pass is lost or stolen, then this must be reported immediately so that the relevant action would be taken. Individuals forgetting their pass at hotel or at home would be required to return to their hotel to uplift same. No exceptions would be made.
An accreditation would be established at the CARIFESTA Secretariat in Middle Street, Georgetown. The Opening period for the accreditation centre would be from 8am to 9pm every day. Delegations would be require to send the bio data of their delegates before 31st July, 2008 so that the necessary passes can be prepared.
CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS
Documentation and Customs requirements:
It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to uplift appropriate documentation (certificates of origin, CARICOM Invoice, Commercial Invoices export licenses, etc.) to export or re-import goods from/into their respective countries.
The Government of Guyana is requesting that you comply with strict adherence to the requirements listed above.
Advance Shipping Information Required:
CARIFESTA X 2008 SECRETARIAT must receive a packing list with the following information by………………………………………………….to facilitate clearance of products with the Guyana Revenue Authority and Customs Administration.
- Name of Exhibitor/Company
- Name of Exporter (if different)
- Country of Origin of Goods
- Values of and Quantities of Items
- Dates of Exportation to Guyana
- Estimated Date and Time of Arrival of Goods

No discrepancies must exist between the products brought in and the previous list/documentation submitted via electronic medium or postal services. There must be adequate and correct documentation in respect of the origin of goods.
- Guyana or United States dollars must be used.
- All documents must be completed in English
- Exhibitors/Exporter are required to provide two (2) sets of all documents
Sample goods will be allowed free into Guyana. Goods shipped in commercial quantities will be subject to the appropriate duties and Value Added Tax and Excise Tax, where applicable. CARIFESTA Secretariat will provide the appropriate duty percentage applicable for products being imported into Guyana in commercial quantities.
SHIPPING OF EXHIBITS
Exhibitors are required to pay all costs for shipping, customs clearance and delivery prior to the release of their goods in Guyana. All cargo shipment must arrive in Guyana by………………………………….to facilitate and expedite clearing of goods. If for any reason your shipment is delayed, CARIFESTA Secretariat must be notified immediately.

Immigrations and Visa Requirements
The citizens from the listed countries below do not need a visa for tourist or business travel to Guyana. A valid Passport is required.
Any citizen from the listed countries who wishes to travel to Guyana for any purpose other than tourism or business negotiations (e.g. work, study, adoption, immigration, or stays longer than stipulated in the entry requirements) should contact directly, the Embassies or nearest consulate

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY INTO GUYANA FOR CITIZENS OF OTHER COUNTRIES
1. Application for visas must be made on the prescribed forms at those overseas missions and consulate offices which are authorized to issue visas. Application forms are free of charge.
2. Applicants residing in countries or states where there are no Guyana Missions or consulate offices are required to route their journey so as to be able to uplift a visa at a convenient point en route to Guyana.
3. Applications for visas may be also done through the mail.
N.B* For the purpose of Carifesta X only, special arrangements will be in place for persons traveling to Guyana to uplift their visa at the Cheddi Jagan international Airport.
REQUIREMENTS:
4. The following documents shall be presented when applying for a visa:-
a. Completed visa application orm in triplicate;
b. Valid passport (at least six months validity);
c. Three recent passport size photographs;
d. Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the visit, or proof of other satisfactory arrangements of applicant's support while in Guyana; and
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
5. The completed application form, as well as evidence of travel plans, shall be submitted to any' Guyana Mission or Consular Representative for consideration. If an interview is required, the applicant will be informed of the date and time.
6. Applications received via the mail must be accompanied by a Money Order in the value of US$5.00 to cover the cost of registered return postage. PERSONAL CHECKS WOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED.
NOTES:
(a) There is no assurance that a visa would be issued, and any preparation or plan made for the journey would be done at the applicant's own risk.
(b) Failure to complete the form properly as well as to provide supporting documents will delay the processing of the application.
(c) Under normal conditions, applications for visas should be submitted six weeks in advance of the proposed date of travel.
(d) The granting of a visa does not necessarily guarantee entry into Guyana. Entry will be dependent upon satisfying the usual Immigration requirements/procedures at the port of entry.
(e) A visitor who without permission breaches his/her condition of entry while in Guyana may become eligible for deportation.
(f) Employment could be paid or unpaid, and includes religious occupation.
Persons wishing to extend their visas may apply at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Georgetown, Guyana.
* Departure Tax from Guyana is $4000GY or $20US and is payable at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
